Heavy Rain Wrecks Havoc

…Throws Maryland Community into darkness

The recent heavy rains in some parts of Lagos have left in its trail damaged power infrastructure which have caused loss of power to electricity customers in Maryland and environs.

A High-Tension pole connecting several transformers broke during the downpour cutting off supply to twenty-two Distribution Transformers effectively shutting down Aderibigbe Shitta Street, Shonibare Estate, Emmanuel Street, Bayo Dejonwo Estate, Jaiye Maja Street and environs.

Ikeja Business Unit manager, Engr. Olajide Kumapayi in an interview appealed for the understanding and cooperation of the customers saying that manpower and materials have been deployed to clear the fault and restore supply at the shortest possible time to minimize the effect on both the customers and the business.

Olajide assured that work had begun in the areas with fallen poles, adding “our men are on ground to ensure that faults are cleared as quickly as possible and power restored in those areas.”

Meanwhile, some residents at some of the affected areas, have applauded Ikeja Electric for their quick response to effect repairs.

It would be recalled that Ikeja Electric had only recently issued a rain and inclement weather alert to customers urging safe practices to ensure there is no fatalities this year during the wet season.
